Not too soft that it wears off quickly or smudges, and not too dry that it won't apply easily. I bought Salmon and Mahogany, which have warm brick color undertones. Great colors. Not a lot of difference between them, but both have warm undertones. They have a soft blurred color, which can deepen with a few more strokes. The added sharpener attached to the cap is fantastic.
