First attempt was a well-known American brand quit within two weeks because my cheeks and forehead started peeling. Second attempt with a lower-concentration product ended the same way, redness and stinging until I gave up. After that I just accepted retinoids weren't for me.
Then the TikTok algorithm served me a video about HPR. Retinol has to go through a conversion process inside your skin before it works, and that conversion is what causes the irritation. HPR skips that step same retinoid family, way less irritation. Skeptical but curious enough to order.
This product is pretty new so there were barely any reviews when I started, but results came faster than I expected. Zero irritation from week one, which is already a completely different experience from every retinol I've tried. No stinging, no tightness, skin felt calmer the morning after.
Week two I started noticing my pores visibly tightening and as you can see in the photos, the difference is real. Texture smoothed out significantly too. I used to have to do a quick exfoliation step every morning before foundation because of dry patches around my nose and jawline. Lately I've been skipping that entirely. Skin just looks more put together overall.
I use this at night only. Sunscreen next morning is non-negotiable with any retinoid. Routine order: toner → hydrating serum → HPR Pro Shot → moisturizer.
Was worried about my barrier since I'm on the drier side, but skin has actually felt more stable since starting this. If you've tried retinol and given up it might have been the retinol, not you. -
