a problem i get a lot with my makeup is how powdering can make my face look quite cakey. i’ve tried several setting sprays to fix this: the only ones i’ve found that really does melt my layers together is charlotte tillbury, sonatural (though that one doesn’t hold my makeup quite as long as i need it to be), and this. ct’s spray makes my face feel tight afterwards so i went on to try this.
i use this setting spray in my makeup routine via the ‘sandwich’ method: that is spraying a layer between steps such as after skincare, after all liquids/creams, and after all my powders. it helps give you that nice healthy glow that i love from jsm’s essential nuder cushion, except i also use this with literally every single foundation i have (it’s that good). it melts all those layers together really good that my face doesn’t cake after i’m done layering all 4 of my blushes plus whatever else i got going on. and it doesn’t make my face feel tight!
i do use this in combination with the other jsm spray, but the other one i only use as a finishing spray after everything’s done. this spray’s the one doing all the heavy work. -
5w4y5hggh...5/5March 6, 2026Normally I use this spray in the standard way—just a light mist over my face after finishing my makeup. But I came across a tip that helps makeup stay in place for the entire day.
After finishing my basic skincare (toner, essence, moisturizer, and sunscreen), I lightly apply a luminous powder and then spray the finishing mist. Then I apply foundation and complete the rest of my makeup like usual. At the end, I set everything again with powder and another spray.
Both methods work well, but this technique definitely helps my makeup last longer, especially on days when I have long 12-hour shifts. -
