After a few weeks, I saw improved skin texture, reduced fine liness, and a bittttt mmmmore firmness overall. It gaveeee myyy skinnn a cleareree, more even tone without excessive peeling or irritation.

Just make sure to buffer it well at first, and always pair with a good moisturizer and SPF!!

I’ve been using K‑Secret’s Seoul 1988 Retinal, it’s done so much of what I hoped retinoids would do—without irritation. The serum has a silky, lightweight texture that absorbs fast and feels more like a nourishing treatment than an aggressive product. It contains encapsulated retinal (2% retinal liposomes, which deliver around 0.02% pure retinal), plus 58% black ginseng extract, niacinamide, bakuchiol, vitamin C derivative and peptides to firm, brighten, and smooth the skin—all while being surprisingly gentle even on my sensitive, combo skin. I started using it just a couple of nights a week and gradually increased frequency, and so far I’ve had zero peeling or redness—just softer texture, less visible pores, and a more even tone. It hasn’t erased deep lines yet, but subtle improvements in firmness and clarity are noticeable. I loved that it feels hydrating and calming—not drying—and pairs wonderfully with a moisturizer in the “sandwich method” for smoother tolerance. I always apply it at night and use SPF diligently in the morning, since retinal increases sun sensitivity.
